Equivalent Fractions

Steps

Words: numerator (top, parts we count), denominator (bottom, equal parts in the whole), equivalent (same amount).
See it: 1/2, 2/4 and 4/8 bars are the same length.
Step 1: pick a number, like 3.
Step 2: multiply the numerator AND the denominator by it: 1/2 = 3/6.
Try: 2/3 = 8/12 (× 4). Going back: 6/8 = 3/4 (÷ 2).
Rhyme: “Top and bottom, times the same: equal fraction, brand-new name!”
